Alexander Zverev vs Alejandro Tabilo

Zain: Alexander Zverev has survived multiple scares already this tournament, as he continues to play under par post-Wimbledon. Up next is Alejandro Tabilo, a player who, on his day, can trouble almost any player from the baseline. The Chilean has come close before to beating the German, and with the way Zverev is playing, there is a chance of an upset here, which I’m going for.
Prediction: Tabilo in 5
Ateet: Alexander Zverev, the top seed, got involved in another slugfest against Quentin Halys, winning the match in the fifth set. His level was even worse than in the first round, and he must find his rhythm quickly to avoid denting his chances further of winning the title. Zverev has an unbelievable record against left-handed players, but Alejandro Tabilo is good enough to make this close if the German doesn’t step up. I am expecting another battle, but Zverev should get it done in four.
Prediction: Zverev in 4
Jakub Mensik vs Learner Tien
Zain: This match pairs two up-and-coming players who will look to make a statement at the last Major of the year. Jakub Mensik’s serve will be key, as from the baseline, Learner Tien should have the clear advantage. That, along with the support of the home crowd, makes me think Tien might do just enough to advance.
Prediction: Tien in 5
Ateet: These two young talents will face each other for the first time since their Next Gen ATP Finals match in 2024. Both are nearly the same age and close to each other in the rankings. Learner Tien is more solid from the baseline, but Jakub Mensik’s huge serve is a big enough weapon to decide matches in his favour. I am taking the Czech to edge it out in a thriller.

Flavio Cobolli vs Alexander Blockx
Zain: Flavio Cobolli has not quite played his best tennis so far this tournament, which he will need to do against Alexander Blockx, as the young Belgian can be quite effective behind his serve on this surface. Despite that, if the Italian is composed from the back of the court, he should come out on top.
Prediction: Cobolli in 4
Ateet: Flavio Cobolli made another slow start in his second-round match, dropping the opening set, but he recovered swiftly and won in four sets. His tennis has been up and down, but the fight and fire have been visible, which is a great sign. Alexander Blockx will be his toughest test yet, and he can’t afford another slow start. Cobolli’s ability to go after Blockx’s second serve gives him the slight advantage.

Zizou Bergs vs Botic van de Zandschulp
Zain: Botic van de Zandschulp had one of his best performances of the year in the last round, overcoming Alex de Minaur in straight sets. Now his aggressive baseline and serving game takes on Zizou Bergs, a player who relies on his all-court creativity. One point of concern for van de Zandschulp has been his inconsistency in stringing back-to-back matches, and against a player like Bergs, who can be tricky from the baseline, this might be one of those instances again for the Dutchman.
Prediction: Bergs in 4
Ateet: Botic van de Zandschulp can play lights-out tennis when he is on, and that’s what he did in the second round to upset #6 seed Alex de Minaur. He outplayed the Australian in almost every department, and if he can continue playing at this level, he will put himself in a great position to go deep in this open section of the draw.
