Thousands of residents without power as Eversource reports widespread outages


(WFSB) – Nearly 3,800 Eversource customers across the state were without power as of Monday morning, with some towns reporting outages affecting nearly a third of all customers.

Eversource reported 3,787 outages statewide out of 1,310,282 total customers, representing 0.29% of its service area.

United Illuminating reported 13 outages affecting customers as of 2:30 a.m.

Beacon Falls reported the highest percentage of customers affected, with 972 of its 2,947 customers without power.

Bethany Road in Beacon Falls is closed between Feldspar Avenue and Munson Road due to downed trees and power lines, according to the Beacon Falls Police Department.

No estimated time for power restoration has been provided. Crews are working to reopen the road.

Burlington followed with 763 outages out of 4,006 customers, or about 19% of the town.

East Lyme reported 720 outages, affecting approximately 6.79% of its 10,603 customers. Guilford reported 477 outages, or 4.27% of customers affected.

Additional towns, including Stamford, Wilton, Bristol, Ridgefield, Weston, Woodstock, Danbury, East Windsor, Essex, Ledyard, Madison, New Hartford, Newtown, and Westport, each reported fewer than five outages.
