We are less than two weeks away from Samsung‘s next Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, when we expect to see not just the new Galaxy foldables, but the next-generation Galaxy Watches, too. And we’ve already seen quite a few leaks in the past few weeks, so we have a good idea of what to expect from the upcoming Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra2.

However, while the previous reports were mostly about looks and straps, the one coming from WinFuture talks about the hardware, and judging by the hardware upgrades, they may be used to justify the sudden price hike.
The most notable change with the new Watch9 series and the Ultra2 is the chipset. Samsung is seemingly dropping its in-house Exynos chips for Qualcomm-made Snapdragon Wear Elite SoCs based on the 3nm node. This will likely boost not only performance but power efficiency as well.
Depending on the model, the Snapdragon Wear Elite chip will be paired with 2GB of RAM and either 32 or 64GB of internal storage.
While the Galaxy Watch9 40mm will feature the same 325 mAh battery as its predecessor, the 44mm variant will sport a 445 mAh unit, a slight increase over the 435 mAh from the 44mm Galaxy Watch8.
The Ultra2, on the other hand, receives more love as Samsung is upping the capacity from 590 mAh on the original Galaxy Watch Ultra to 800 mAh. That’s a notable upgrade, which will likely translate to significant battery life gains.
