Previous report: The Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks couldn’t quite squeeze their June 14 matinee in before expected weather arrived, and the teams are now in a rain delay.
With the Diamondbacks leading the Reds 4-3 in the top of the ninth inning, the game entered a rain delay. That was after stadium officials posted an announcement on ballpark scoreboards advising of the approaching weather around 3:40 p.m.
As the Reds put two men aboard in the bottom of the eighth inning in search of a game-tying run, the rains arrived around 4 p.m. After Noelvi Marte struck out to end the eighth inning, the Great American Ball Park grounds crew raced out of the home dugout and spread the tarp over the infield.
A timeline regarding restarting play wasn’t immediately announced by team and stadium officials.
