“A great result with back-to-back wins. The guys are showing a winning mentality,” head coach Matt Wells said after the Rapids defeated the LA Galaxy 4–1 last weekend at DICK’s Sporting Goods Park. “It’s an ongoing process, but there are still things we need to improve, and those will come with time.”
Now the Rapids 2-1-0, 6 pts., 5th in the Western Conference, will take that momentum on the road for a matchup with New York City FC 2-1-0, 7 pts., 1st in the Eastern Conference.

“That’s a challenge for us. We need to deliver the same level of performance away from home,” Wells said as his squad begins a three-game road trip on Saturday. “Hopefully in New York, it all comes together.”
Kickoff is set for Saturday, 5:30 p.m. MT at Yankee Stadium.
