The POCO X8 Pro series (roundup) launches in India later today, but a leak has already revealed pricing that shows the brand stepping up from its budget roots. Information from tipster Paras Guglani suggests that the POCO X8 Pro series has ventured into the upper mid-range segment with a Rs 6,000 increase over the predecessor, the POCO X7 Pro.
The tipster suggests the POCO X8 Pro will start at Rs 33,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model and Rs 37,999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The X8 Pro Max, which doesn’t really have a true predecessor, follows at Rs 41,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model and Rs 45,999 for the 12GB + 512GB variant. The POCO X8 Pro Iron Man Edition could be priced at Rs 43,999 but might drop to Rs 40,999 through launch offers. A Rs 3,000 bank offer could also be offered at launch for all models. Compared to last year’s POCO X7 Pro which started at Rs 26,999, this is a bit of a steep jump. Rising component costs explain it, but POCO would still aim to undercut true flagships while delivering premium features, much like its strategy with all its offerings.
The POCO X8 Pro Flipkart microsite gives an early look at what to expect. Both phones pack IP66/68/69/69K ratings , SGS durability certification, slim 8.3 mm glass bodies with metal frames, and 201 gms weight. The POCO X8 Pro has a 6.59-inch 1.5K 120Hz display reaching 3,500 nits brightness with Gorilla Glass 7i protection, while the POCO X8 Pro Max stretches to 6.83 inches.
Camera differences between the two models are subtle but important. The X8 Pro is expected to use a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor, while the Max switches to a 50MP Light Fusion 600 sensor. Both come with an 8MP ultrawide camera and support features like 4K 60fps video, including night video, along with AI editing tools like object removal and scene expansion. These are increasingly common, but execution will matter.
Audio and media also seem to get attention, with dual stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, and a boosted volume mode aimed at clearer sound at lower levels. The POCO X8 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, while the X8 Pro Max uses the Dimensity 9500s chipset. The POCO X8 Pro will pack a 6,500mAh paired with 100W fast charging, while the X8 Pro Max will have a massive 9,000mAh cell, larger than its global counterparts. The pricing pits POCO against Nothing’s recently launched Phone (4a) series with their unique Glyph lights and cleaner software. Other competitors include the Redmi Note 15 Pro series and Realme 16 Pro series. If you want something that can take a bit of rough use and still stay easy to read outdoors, the X8 Pro looks like a solid fit on paper. The IP69 rating and very bright display should help in day-to-day use, especially once launch offers bring the price down a little.
Battery will also influence the buying decision. The X8 Pro’s 6,500mAh battery should be more than enough for most people, but the X8 Pro Max takes it further with 9,000mAh, which could be appealing if you’re a heavy user or just don’t like charging your phone often.
If design and a cleaner software experience matter more to you, the Nothing Phone (4a) might still feel more interesting. However, POCO’s Iron Man Edition adds a bit of fun for those who like limited designs. It’s worth waiting for reviews to see how things like battery life, heating, and overall performance hold up in real use.
