Residents have been advised to use the online facility available for self-enumeration from May 17 to furnish their personal data needed for the Census of India 2027.
In a release, Tahsildar-cum-Charge Officer, Puducherry (Urban) D. Silambarasan said the Union government has formally approved the Census of India 2027. The exercise will be conducted in two phases. The first will be the House listing and Housing Census scheduled from June 1 to June 30. The second phase will be Population Enumeration scheduled from February 2027, he said.
For conducting the process, the Puducherry (Urban) comprising 33 wards has been divided into 434 House Listing Blocks (HLBs). A dedicated team of 445 government officials (including Upper Division Clerks, Lower Division Clerks and Assistants) have been appointed to serve as enumerators and supervisors, the release said.
Residents are requested to participate in House Listing and Housing Census via self enumeration and door-to-door enumeration. Citizens could record their own data from May 17 to 31 by visiting the portal: https://se.census.gov.in. Census officials will visit households from June 1 to 30 for door-to-door enumeration, the release said.
“We have launched an intensive training programme for officers. All batches will be imparted training by May 22. We are appealing to all residents to prioritise self enumeration to save time and ensure the highest level of data accuracy,” he said.
