WILMINGTON, N.C. (SMU) – SMU women’s golf advanced to the match play semifinals of the 2026 ACC Women’s Golf Championship with second-place finish in the stroke play portion of the tournament.

“Really proud of the work this group has done to put us in this position,” said head coach Lauren Mason. “Today we tied for the low round of the day, which says a lot about the focus and competitiveness of this team. As a coaching staff, we’ve believed in this group all along not just because of their talent, but because of how they show up for each other as teammates when no one is watching!”

“Earning the No. 2 seed and the bye tomorrow morning is a great opportunity, and we’re excited to compete for a spot in the championship,” added Mason. “I feel very confident in the depth of our lineup, especially because this group has a lot of match play experience”

“We’re looking forward to the challenge and excited to see what opportunities tomorrow afternoon brings,’ concluded Mason..

The Mustangs came into the day in a tie for second with No. 10 Duke, needing a spot in the top two to advance directly to the semifinals by way of a bye. The team shot 10-under equaling Stanford and Wake Forest for the lowest round on the course. The Mustangs surpassed Duke moving into second and earning one of two byes. They finished in front of nine nationally ranked teams and only trailed Stanford, the top ranked team in the country.
