Manchester United came through their biggest test of preseason so far as they beat Atlético Madrid 2-1 in Sweden thanks to a brace from Bryan Mbeumo.
Michael Carrick’s side had trailed for much of the game after Arnau Ortiz’s fifth-minute opener, but were good value for the win come the end.

United had got off to a difficult start in preseason, as Sam Smith’s conversion from Lewis O’Brien’s cross proved to be the only goal of the game against Wrexham, who took the victory at Helsinki’s Olympic Stadium a fortnight ago.
Ethan Wheatley had the best chance of the game for Carrick’s side but they could not muster an equaliser.
Nonetheless, they were far more impressive the following Friday as they took Rosenborg to the cleaners at Lerkendal Stadium.
A curling effort from Shea Lacey broke the deadlock, with Joshua Zirkzee, Jacob Devaney, Harry Amass and Ethan Williams all getting in on the act for a young United side.
Atleti also arrived into this game on the back of a comfortable victory, with theirs coming against Getafe on Wednesday.
Ademola Lookman‘s brace had Diego Simeone’s side up by two goals by the 35th minute, before Getafe’s Alvaro Gutiérrez halved the deficit.
But Arnau Ortiz was on hand in the 55th minute to restore Madrid’s two-goal advantage, and Obed Vargas put the icing on the cake when he converted a penalty in the 90th minute to secure a 4-1 win.
Next up for United is Paris Saint-Germain, while Atleti will face Manchester City.
