LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has declared two counties in north Arkansas as disaster areas after severe storms struck down earlier this year.
Sanders declared Marion and Searcy counties as a disaster area after storms hit on May 28.

Sanders said the damage will require assistance from the state to help the areas recover from these losses.

Officials in Searcy County said heavy rain caused flooding and downed trees in certain areas.
