Child seriously injured after hit-and-run in Rohnert Park


Two children riding an electric scooter were struck by a hit-and-run driver Friday night, May 29, in Rohnert Park, according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.

One of the children suffered major injuries, and authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver and vehicle involved.

The collision was reported about 9:25 p.m. at the intersection of Bodway Parkway and Waterside Lane, authorities said.

Responding officers found the two children in the roadway after they were struck while riding together on the scooter, according to the department. One of them suffered major injuries, details of which were not available as of Saturday morning, May 30.

Investigators said the driver fled the scene without stopping to help.

Authorities believe the vehicle involved was a silver 2004 to 2009 Dodge Durango SUV. The department released surveillance images and video of the suspected vehicle following the collision.
