Charitha Kamakshi is the latest Telugu film that premiered directly on ETV Win. The movie stars Divya Sripada and Abhai Naveen in the lead roles. Let’s see how the film fares.

Story:

Charitha Kamakshi (Divya Sripada) is a simple and innocent woman who marries Chakravarthy (Abhai Naveen), an aspiring film director. Their life appears normal until an unexpected turn creates serious problems for the family. How Charitha deals with the situation and what happens next forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

Divya Sripada is one of the few positives of the film. She looks natural on screen and delivers a sincere performance that suits the character well. Abhai Naveen does a decent job and supports the narrative fairly well.

A few light moments between the lead pair manage to bring a smile, though they are limited and do not appear often enough to keep the film engaging. The music and cinematography offer some support to the narrative and help maintain a pleasant visual tone.

Minus Points:

Despite having a crisp runtime of just 90 minutes, the film feels longer due to its slow and stretched narration. While scenes keep moving, the story itself progresses very little.

At its core, the film tries to deliver a social message about respecting women, even when they are not part of one’s family. However, the message is conveyed through repetitive situations and minimal dramatic movement, which makes the film feel dull.

The story is set in the early 2000s, but the timeline adds little to the narrative. Instead, it mainly serves to portray the heroine as extremely innocent and virtuous.

The pre-climax and climax feel highly predictable and outdated. By the time the film reaches its final stretch, the outcome becomes easy to guess, which weakens the emotional impact.

The film also lacks memorable moments overall. Actors like Babloo Prithiveeraj and the supporting cast have limited scope despite their potential.

Technical Aspects:

Director Channdu Saayi, in his debut, attempts to deliver a feel-good emotional drama. While the intention is clear, the execution suffers due to a weak screenplay and sluggish narration.

Abu’s music is decent, and Rocky Vanamali’s cinematography is adequate. The production values are modest, while the editing by Kodati Pawan Kalyan could have been tighter to improve the film’s pacing.

Verdict:

On the whole, Charitha Kamakshi turns out to be a slow and boring emotional drama. Apart from okay performances from the lead pair, the film offers very little in terms of engaging storytelling. What aims to be a heartfelt film ultimately ends up as a dull and underwhelming watch due to its weak narration and outdated treatment.
