An action war movie starring Henry Cavill and Alan Ritchson has been doing incredibly well on the streaming platform, Peacock. Not long after finding a new OTT home, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare quickly climbed to the top of the charts, beating out other notable titles. The film earlier premiered in theaters two years ago, but ended up becoming a financial failure. However, its resurgence on streaming has brought renewed attention to it.
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare tops Peacock movie charts
Henry Cavill and Alan Ritchson’s 2024 feature is the most popular and most-watched film on Peacock as of May 20, 2026.
According to data shared by FlixPatrol, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare sits at #1, surpassing The Secret Life of Pets, which now holds the #2 spot.
Below these two in the Top 10 list are Mr. Peabody & Sherman (#3), Another Man’s Wife (#4), The Boss Baby (#5), The Marsh King’s Daughter (#6), The Mummy (#7), The Day After Tomorrow (#8), Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (#9), and Billy Madison (#10).
The film first premiered in New York on April 13, 2024. It then launched nationwide across the United States about a week later, on April 19. Following its release, the movie flopped at the box office, making only approximately $29.8 million globally (via Box Office Mojo).
While critics had mixed thoughts upon watching, audiences seemingly viewed The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare more favorably. This is evident in the scores on review aggregators. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 68% Tomatometer rating but a superior 91% “verified hot” Popcornmeter score.
Meanwhile, Metacritic has assigned the film a Metascore of 55 and a user score of 6.4. The former denotes “mixed or average” reception, while the latter points to “generally favorable” views.
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is based on Damien Lewis’ book Churchill’s Secret Warriors: The Explosive True Story of the Special Forces Desperadoes of WWII. Set during World War II, the narrative follows a greatly fictionalized retelling of the role of Winston Churchill’s Special Operations Executive in Operation Postmaster.
Veteran filmmaker Guy Ritchie helmed the movie. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Paul Tamasy, Eric Johnson, and Arash Amel. The movie also features Alex Pettyfer, Eiza González, Cary Elwes, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, and Henry Golding, among others.
