The Commanders designated three players for return to active duty this week and they opened up a roster spot that could be used for one of them on Thursday.
They did so by parting ways with a member of their 2026 draft class. They announced that they have waived running back Kaytron Allen.
Allen was a sixth-round pick this year. He has played in every game this season and he has 41 yards on 12 carries.
The Commanders could bring Allen back to the practice squad if he clears waivers. Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Chris Rodriguez, and Austin Ekeler are the team’s remaining backs. Jeremy McNichols was one of the players designated for return, so he could be part of that group soon.
Cornerback Trey Amos and defensive end Deatrich Wise are the others.
