The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rain and thundershowers in parts of Kolkata on Mahalaya, Saturday, October 10.
The city is likely to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers on October 8 and 9. However, dry weather is expected after Mahalaya from October 11 to 14.
On Thursday, thunderstorms and lightning, accompanied by gusty winds of 30–40 kmph, are very likely at one or two places in all districts of South Bengal.
Heavy rainfall of 7–11cm is very likely at one or two places in East and West Burdwan, Birbhum and Murshidabad.
On Friday, thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds of 30–40 kmph are very likely at one or two places in Murshidabad, Nadia, and North and South 24-Parganas.
Dry weather is forecast across south Bengal from October 11 to 13. On October 14, light rain and thundershowers are likely at one or two places in North and South 24-Parganas and East and West Midnapore.
Yellow alerts have been issued for Kolkata, Howrah and Hooghly on Thursday. North and South 24-Parganas are under yellow alerts on both Thursday and Friday.
