The champions enter the fray. Barça Femeni begin their 2026/27 UEFA Women’s Champions League adventure this Thursday (9pm CEST) against Paris FC at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
The Parisian side, who reached the last 16 of Europe’s premier club competition last season, have played three league games so far, picking up six points. Pere Romeu describes Paris FC as a “physical and direct” side whose playing style has been clearly defined for a number of years.
Just one previous meeting
Barça and Paris FC have met just once before, last season. The blaugranes visited the Stade Jean Bouin on Matchday 6 of the Champions League and came away with the win. More than 15,000 spectators were there to see Pere Romeu’s side triumph 2-0.
On that 17 December, Vicky López and Caroline Graham got the goals for Barça in a game in which Paris FC managed to keep pace with the blaugranes in the first half, although Barça could have extended their lead even further after the break.
Defending the title
Now it is time to defend the crown. Barça will be looking to win the Champions League for the fifth time in their history. Ewa Pajor, who also spoke at the pre-match press conference, is clear that “the goal is to get to Warsaw”, where this season’s final will be played.
Vicky López and Kika Nazareth are both unavailable with thigh injuries, but Irene Paredes has been declared fit.
