ISRO Puts India’s First Geo Imaging Satellite In Orbit, PM Modi Hails EOS-05 Launch Aboard GSLV-F17
The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) successfully launched EOS-05, India’s first imaging satellite designed to operate from a geosynchronous orbit, aboard the GSLV-F17. The 51.7-metre-tall rocket lifted off from Sriharikota at 2.55am and precisely placed the 2,367kg Earth observation satellite into its intended transfer orbit. This marked the 19th GSLV flight and the 107th launch from Sriharikota. Isro Chairman V Narayanan said the mission achieved its intended orbit accurately, with EOS-05 to be moved to its final orbit through onboard thruster manoeuvres. He highlighted the GSLV’s improved performance and its highest-ever payload of 2,367kg. The satellite will provide strategic Earth observation data from geosynchronous orbit.
