The Giants’ receiving corps may have been dealt a serious blow on Tuesday.
Calvin Austin had to be carted off the field after going down while running a 1-on-1 drill. Reporters at the practice noted that Austin grabbed his right knee after going down and that he was consoled by teammates as well as team owner John Mara before making his way off the field.
Austin signed a one-year deal with the Giants this offseason after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Steelers. The team lists him behind Malik Nabers on the depth chart.
Odell Beckham Jr. is one of the wideouts behind Austin and a severe injury could help the veteran solidify his hold on a roster spot in his second tour of duty with the Giants.
