The Chicago area has had its fill of severe weather in recent days, but could storms impact the middle game of the Crosstown Classic?
The first game of that series went to the Chicago Cubs on Monday night in dramatic fashion, but the Chicago White Sox will have revenge on their minds when the two teams tangle again at 7:05 p.m. on the North Side.
Unfortunately for the teams, the action on the field may be overshadowed by the action in the skies above, as showers and thunderstorms could potentially rumble through the area on Tuesday evening.
Some of those storms could even be severe, with gusty winds and heavy rain possible.

-A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for southern Wisconsin, including in Kenosha County.
Here is a timeline of what you could expect, and when, as the week unfolds in the Chicago area.
Tuesday Night
According to the Storm Prediction Center, most of northern Illinois is at a “marginal” risk of severe weather, the first of five risk levels used by the SPC.
The main threats with any storms that develop would be gusty winds in excess of 60 miles per hour, though there is also a threat of locally heavy rain according to forecast models.
What’s uncertain at this point is the coverage of the storms, which could be scattered in nature. The main focus of forecast models leading up to the system’s arrival is areas around the northern suburbs and perhaps into the city of Chicago itself, with those showers and storms potentially arriving right around 7 p.m. or 8 p.m.
Wednesday Morning
Some of those showers and storms could stick around into the early morning hours, with the rain slowly pushing to the south across Interstate 80 and into the southern suburbs.
Those storms will still be scattered in nature, so some locations may see little-to-no rain while others could see multiple rounds of showers, according to forecast models.
Wednesday Afternoon
A cold front is expected to dip through the Chicago area on Wednesday afternoon, paving the way for another round of scattered-to-isolated showers and thunderstorms.
It isn’t expected at this time that any storms that develop would be severe, but the storms could still produce some locally heavy rain.
Thursday
A quiet day is expected in the forecast for Thursday, with high temperatures in the low-80s under partly-to-mostly sunny skies according to the NBC 5 Storm Team.
Friday
While most of the day Friday is expected to be clear, with high temperatures right around 80 degrees, there is a chance of some late-developing showers and thunderstorms that could stick around into Saturday morning, according to forecast models.
It’s unclear at this time whether any storms that develop may be severe, but forecast models are slowly coming into focus for the remainder of the week.
Saturday
Once again scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible, and slightly cooler temperatures are expected to arrive behind another front, with overnight lows Saturday and into Sunday potentially dipping into the 50s.
Sunday
A period of quieter weather is expected to develop Sunday and heading into the early stages of the new work week, with high temperatures in the mid-70s under partly-to-mostly sunny skies.
