Gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds thinks Gov. Ron DeSantis would do a good job as President Donald Trump’s second Attorney General from Florida.
Donalds told conservative talk show host Benny Johnson that DeSantis, who holds a degree from Harvard Law, would “make a very good Attorney General,” though he acknowledges acting Attorney General Todd Blanche is “doing a very good job” as a temporary-for-now replacement for former Attorney General Pam Bondi.
“I think he actually would make a very good Attorney General, because knowing Governor DeSantis, he will make sure that he looks through everything with a fine-tooth comb to hold people accountable. And I think that’s a spot he could be incredibly well-suited for. But there’s so many different opportunities,” the Naples Congressman said.
DeSantis has been coy about future plans, saying this week that he was focused on “running through the tape” in his remaining time as Governor, and denying discussions of a White House role have happened.
“No one’s ever asked me to do anything, and I’ve never asked to do anything,” DeSantis said.
He suggested that ongoing speculation is because he is “one of the more well-known Republicans in the country.”
