Mavericks vs Clippers Preview and Injury Update: These games used to mean something

The Dallas Mavericks (23-47) are home for the second straight game Saturday night, playing the Los Angeles Clippers (34-36). Dallas has been off for two days following a home loss to the Atlanta Hawks. The Clippers have slid under .500 after losing four straight, the most recent to the New Orleans Pelicans. They really need to get back on track.

Here are the main things you need to know:

  • WHO: Dallas Mavericks vs Los Angeles Clippers

  • WHERE: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas

  • HOW: KFAA Channel 29, MavsTV streaming, NBA League Pass

It’s a pretty clean injury report for the Mavericks. Brandon Williams is out with a concussion. Caleb Martin is questionable with a heel contusion. The two-way contract players are all questionable as well and will likely be a game time decision. Everyone else should suit up, which is interesting to me given the Mavericks incentive structure right now.

The Los Angeles Clippers are healthy, with the main exception centering around their best player. Kawhi Leonard is questionable as of this writing with an ankle sprain. Benedict Mathurin is out with a toe injury.

It’s as simple as saying if Kawhi Leonard plays, the Clippers should win and if he doesn’t play, I’d expect Dallas to take this one. He’s been one of the best players in the least the last 30+ games and Dallas fan are very familiar with Leonard once he gets on a tear. All I am looking for this game from the Mavericks is Cooper Flagg’s energy level. I’d love to see him shoot a threee.
