Whitworth targeting a faster start at Reading

Exeter City goalkeeper Joe Whitworth has helped the Grecians to the best defensive record in League One this campaign

Now, they are in the top ten and hunting down those above them in the League One table with the unlikely playoff push hopes growing.

‘The Grecians head to Reading tonight on a high after a clinical 3-1 victory over Port Vale which made it five unbeaten, as they have picked up 13 points from the last 15.

‘That run of good form stretches back to ten games, with the 19 points Gary Caldwell’s men have picked up in that period seeing them in the playoff spots for that period, and goalkeeper Joe Whitworth has called on his side to double down on their impressive recent form.

“We had some really tough games and came out the other side with some really good results,’ Whitworth said. “But the manager is really good at making sure people are grounded. For us as a group, it’s about our mentality, focusing on each game as it comes.
