Netflix film with Tom Hardy is ‘best thing you will watch in 2025’

Viewers have described the film as “the best action movie of all time”

There are countless action films released every year, many featuring big-name stars, but when Tom Hardy takes the lead, expectations go through the roof. Widely regarded as one of the most talented actors of his generation, Hardy has a reputation for elevating any project he’s involved in, and fans know that his presence on screen usually guarantees a performance worth watching.

That reputation is certainly on display in the new Netflix film Havoc, which has sparked divided opinions but left a huge impact on many viewers. One reviewer wrote: “It’s the best action movie of all time and I can’t stop watching it.” While another viewer added: “I loved the movie. Great action, guns, and gore. Overall I’ve seen the movie four times now and I think it’s a masterpiece.”

A third viewer schoed the sentiment: “Everything with Tom Hardy in it is bound to be worth a watch. This film is no different. Many people don’t like it but I think it’s the best thing you will watch in 2025.”

Released on Netflix in April, Havoc stars Hardy as a detective navigating a violent and treacherous criminal underworld after the son of a powerful politician goes missing.

Set in a fictional American city, the film is packed with intense and bloody action sequences, including gritty combat scenes and high-stakes chases that keep viewers on the edge of their seats, the Express reports,

The official Netflix synopsis reads: “After a drug deal gone wrong, a bruised detective must fight his way through the criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, unravelling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city.”

The film was written and directed by Gareth Evans, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the cult-favourite action franchise The Raid. Alongside Hardy, the cast boasts Jessie Mei Li, Forest Whitaker, Timothy Olyphant and Justin Cornwell.

Despite being set in the United States, much of the film was shot in Cardiff and Swansea, and it has been described as one of the largest productions ever undertaken in Wales. Filming began in 2021, although some reshoots were delayed due to industry strikes.

While Havoc has earned praise from many viewers for its adrenaline-fuelled action and Hardy’s commanding performance, it hasn’t been universally loved. Some critics and audiences have found it excessive, with one describing it as “a relentless moronic blood bath”.

Nevertheless, for fans of high-octane, brutal action films, Havoc is a must-watch. With Tom Hardy leading the charge and Gareth Evans at the helm, it promises a thrilling ride through violence, suspense and unforgettable cinematic intensity.

The film is now available to stream on Netflix.
